Supplemental Information: Some of the impacts identified in the Northeast Regional Risk Report (November 2012) from climate change observed in the Northeast in the last decade include: • Extended Spring and Fall fire seasons • Warmer average temperatures; more frequent and intense drought periods • Multiple jurisdictions transitioning beyond initial attack on wildfires • Mop-up and lingering heat requiring greater time, resources, and caution • Greater intensity and quicker transition to larger fires • Greater resistance to control at all levels; reliance on traditional barriers and techniques will be less effective • Complexity and scope of fires to accelerate more quickly
